    Geneviève Ngosso Kouo comes from the Cameroon. She obtained a doctorate in English in Paris. She has taught at the Teacher Training College in Abidjan. She has also worked as a translator at the United States Embassy and at the Regional Mission of the World Bank.

    "Three portraits of women - that of Sulo (the journalist), Anti Greissi (the step-aunt) and Ticky (the shopkeeper) - are traced through the pages of this novel. The author conveys the hateful mentality of the Bouma men in a shrewd and vigorous style and is able to depict human beings in all their distress and emotional exhaustion.
