Marie Gisèle Aka Amany was born in 1971 in Beyrouth. She lived in the Ivory Coast for many years but left that country when her husband was posted in Cameroun. She is fluent in French, English, Spanish and Russian. Since 1998, she has worked for Unicef and her postings included Senegal (2004-5) and Niger (2006). She is the mother of three children.
