Adame BA KONARE An author from Mali writing in French [Return to French — Page originale en français]

Born in Segou, Adame Ba Konaré is a writer and historian from Mali. She is the wife of the former President of Mali, Alpha Oumar Konaré. She belongs to a long line of scholars from the Peul/Foutanké tradition. Her great grandfather Mohamed Ali Thiam, for example, is the author of "Qacida en poular", an epic poem retracing the Life and Jihad of El Hadj Omar Tall. Adame Ba Konaré graduated with a PhD in History from the University of Varsovie and was subsequently appointed to the Ecole Normale Supérieure, from 1976 to 1992. She was Head of Department between 1981 and 1984. Adame Ba Konaré has published numerous articles in the field of History, but her latest communications and talks broach a wide range of issues and preoccupations. Her volume Ces mots que je partage offers an interesting collection of talks addressed to a very diverse range of audiences in Mali and other countries in Africa.
