    Géraldine Ida Bakima Poundza was born in Pointe Noire, in Congo Brazzaville. In the late 1980s, she worked as a secretary in a Parisian hospital and in 1990 she left for Conakry, in Guinea, where her husband had taken a ten months posting with a School of Engineering sponsored by the European Union. Eventually, she stayed ten years in Guinea before moving back to France. Géraldine Bakima is now (2007) the coordinator of the medical offices at Meaux's General Hospital, in the French Seine-et-Marne region.
