Anne-Sophie GINDROZ An author from many places... writing in French [Return to French Page originale en français] |
Anne-Sophie Gindroz was born in 1967 to a Swedish mother and a Swiss father. Upon completing her Law degree and sojourning in Africa, she developed a special interest for issues related to development and so, collaborated with a number of NGOs. She spent ten years in Indonesia where she married and started a family before moving to China where she worked on the issue of Human rights. She then spent five years in Mali, a full-on experience professionally and personally as she adopted twin orphans during her stay there. Committed to her work, Anne-Sophie has always attempted to give full meaning to her work in the domain of cooperation and development, though not without some questioning as expressed in her poems and narratives. It is after the years spent in Africa that she decided to share her convictions and her doubts. On the one hand her thoughts provide some visibility to those men and women who have been too often hidden behind the "statistics on poverty" and "migration phenomena". On the other hand, it is the many excesses of our world, and their bearing on Africa in particular that lie at the heart of Anne-Sophie Gindroz's stories. Her commitment is coupled with a very busy family life as she is the mother of seven children: a family blending three continents (Europe, Asia and Africa) is one source of inspiration for her.
