Léa Nicole Kimbekete was born in Congo-Brazzaville. Following her primary and secondary school education, she became involved in the theatre and developped a passion for writing and expressing herself. In 1983, she won La Plume d'or pour la paix at a poetry competiton organised by the UNO in Brazzaville. With a Diploma in Administration and Finance from the National School for Middle Level Managers, she is now (2006) Manager of the National Office for Arts and Culture on behalf of UNESCO.
