Marceline FILA MATSOCOTA An author from Congo writing in French [Return to French Page originale en français] |
Marceline Fila Matsocota was born in 1936 in Brazzaville, Congo. She first attended two religious schools, St Joseph de Cluny in Congo and Ste Jeanne d'Arc in Dakar. Later she moved to France where she completed the first part of her baccalaureate. Her marriage to Lin Lazare Matsocota marked the interruption of her studies and her return to Congo where she was abandoned by her husband, shortly before the latter was assassinated for political reasons. Left to her own devices, Marceline Fila Matsocota went back to study and took a position as an English teacher in Brazzaville. After completing her Masters Degree in France, she was promoted to a number of important postings in the Guinean Civil Service, the UN, UNESCO, etc. Following the war that erupted in the Congo in the late 1990s, she left her country and took refuge in France in 2000.
