Valérie Junot-Pascaud was born in Charente (France) in 1965. When she was five years old she moved to Senegal with her parents. After spending her childhood and adolescence in Dakar, she returned to France to study the History of Art in Paris. She began her professional career in La Réunion where she became Assistant in the Conservation and Heritage section of the Archives Department. A passionate historian, Valérie Junot-Pascaud was involved in numerous publications, notably "1890-1990 : La Possession pittoresque. Du batelage à une economie de plantation" (At the occasion of the celebration of the Centenary of the oldest rural district on Reunion) and "Antoine-Louis Roussin" (painter, lithographer). In 1997, she returned to Dakar with her two children, Robin and Marion, where she is now Press Secretary to the French Embassy (2002).
