Rahmatou SECK SAMB An author from Senegal writing in French [Return to French Page originale en français] |
Born in 1953, Rahmatou Seck Samb comes from the city of Bargny in Senegal. Her
father, Issa Seck, was a school teacher trained at the well known colonial
school William Ponty and she inherited his love of literature at an early age. Subsequently, Rahmatou Seck Samb graduated in Law and obtained a DEA
in Economy and Development. At the age of just 19, she married a UN official
and followed him for the next 25 years to his diverse postings: Geneva, Athens,
New-York, Kinshasa, Bujumbura, Conakry, Ouagadougou, and Addis-Abeba. This
last city made a strong impression on her and provided the setting for her
novel. Rahmatou Seck Samb has three children and is now back in Senegal where
she would like to continue writing novels (2003).
