    Born in 1926 in Guinea, Jeanne Martin Cissé attended Dakar's Teachers College in the early 1940s. She joined the African Democratic Rally at the end of the same decade and became a staunch ally of Sékou Touré. Jeanne Martin Cissé was the first woman to chair the UN Security Council.
