Josette Desclercs Abondio taught for many years in Abidjan's lycées. Her interets comprise literature, the theater, and also the martial arts she is a black belt in karate. She was elected "Présidente de l'Association des Ecrivains de Côte d'Ivoire" in 1997 and held this position for some years. She now lives and works as a librarian in Abidjan (2013).
