    Josette Desclercs Abondio taught for many years in Abidjan's lycées. Her interets comprise literature, the theater, and also the martial arts – she is a black belt in karate. She was elected "Présidente de l'Association des Ecrivains de Côte d'Ivoire" in 1997 and held this position for some years. She now lives in Abidjan where she manages a bookshop (2013).
