    Aïcha Aminata Laïla was born in 1957 in Bamako. Her father Bénitiéni Fofana was Minister for Health. After her secondary education at the "Lycée Notre-Dame", she studied Languages at the Sorbonne, Manneheim University and Oxford. She was a translator and an interpreter. She lived in Bamako.
    Aïcha Fofana died in Bamako on August 16, 2003
