Gad Ami's real name is Lolonyo Amivi Dzifa Brigitte Beauty M'Maye. She comes from Togo and was born in 1958 in Lomé. Her parents are from Adafienue, formerly part of British Togo, now Ghana, and the family speaks Mina. Her father works in commerce and her mother as a retailer. Gad Ami went to the Lomé Methodist School before studying at secondary level in the "Collège Notre Dame d'Afrique" in Atakpamé, and then at the "lycée technique" in Lomé. After her bac, she did a secretarial course in Paris before returning to the University of Creteil, where she is studying for a Masters degree in Social and Economic Administration. She is currently living in Lomé (1992) with her husband and children. She has worked in business for several years but the economic climate has forced her to give it up.
