Bessora was born in Belgium in 1968, to a Gabonese father and a Swiss mother. She spent her chidhood growing up in Africa, Europe and the United States of America. Having completed a business course and worked as a banking consultant, she moved to Paris where she completed a Doctorate in Anthropolgy. In a recent interview published by Amina (2007) she mentioned travelling around the world to promote her books.
