Agnès DU PARGE An author from France and Ivory Coast writing in French [Return to French Page originale en français] |
Born in France 37 years ago, Agnès du Parge arrived in Ivory Coast in 1997 as a French expatriate working for "French Cooperation". Very much attached to her host country, she remained there after the term of her contract and became interested in African art. She settled in Bouaké, in the centre of the country and it is there that she witnessed the military push that took place on September 2002. Her chronicle, Parmi les rebelles (Amongst The Rebels). documents from an insider's perspective the events that took place both in rebel and government zones in the year that followed this military coup. Interviews with rebel military leader, Cherif Ousmane, provide the backbone of her chronicle. (2003)
