Anne Marie Corea, married name Niane, was born in 1950 in Ho-chi-minh City (formerly Saigon). She spent her early childhood in Vietnam. Her father came from Saint-Louis in Senegal and her mother from Saigon, where her parents met while her father was a recruit in the French army. Anne Marie Niane was five years old when her family returned to Senegal.
After her primary and secondary schooling in Senegal, she studied in Paris from 1968 until 1974 where she obtained a degree in English. She returned to Dakar in 1975. From this time she has worked in Management as Attachée de Direction with the Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR). (1997)
