    Fama Diagne Sene was born in 1969 in Thiès, Senegal. She completed all her education in this town where she is now a teacher (2002). In 1997, her first novel Le chant des ténèbres [The Song of Darkness] received the literary Prize "Grand Prix du président de la République du Sénégal pour les Lettres".
